Parkpop is the biggest free pop festival in Europe! Traditionally held on the last Sunday of June, many Dutch and international bands perform in Zuiderpark in The Hague. Parkpop is also known for its unique atmosphere and its extensive festival market.

Beach Challenge

Beach Kijkduin, 18 July 2009.

For those with sports in mind, there’s always the Beach Challenge. 1,500 metres of swimming, 30 kilometres of cycling and 10 kilometres of running. Professional athletes and driven amateurs combat the elements and themselves.

International Fireworks Festival

On three consecutive summer nights a total of six countries will set off their best fireworks. This famous spectacle will be staged for the 30th time this year.

Holland Dance Festival

Holland Dance Festival 2009 celebrates 50 years of ‘Nederlands Dans theater’ Batsheva Dance Company & Batsheva Dance Ensemble (Israel)

This year’s edition presents artistic director Ohad Naharin’s choreography MAX (2008), a refined ensemble work, exploring the roots of motion, time and space.

Residentie Orkest conducted

Carel Kraayenhof and Sexteto Canyengue
The Residentie Orkest has invited bandoneon virtuoso Carel Kraayenhof to perform, among other pieces, Astor Piazolla’s suite Punta del Este for bandoneon and orchestra. Kraayenhof brings his own Sexteto Canyengue to render a set of tangos, some of which will be played with the orchestra.
