Bridget Maasland
Bridget Maasland rose to fame as a presenter on Dutch television, but besides hosting a string of popular – and sometimes controversial – TV shows, she runs television production company HaagseBluf TV together with her boyfriend. The distinct name* of their company ensures that Bridget remains connected to her native city of The Hague. We met Bridget at a colourful outdoor café in the southern part of Amsterdam. After searching for a potential home in such diverse locations as Holland’s leafy and oh-so proper ‘t Gooi district and New York City – and making her quest the subject of one of her TV shows – the TV host and producer finally decided to settle down in this upscale section of town, having recently moved into a new home with her boyfriend and young child. Many Dutch TV viewers were able to get a glimpse into Bridget’s life in some of her recent shows. A highlight for many was seeing her newborn son Mees, who was featured in the final episode of 'Hoe word ik mama, in Amsterdam Zuid' (‘How do I become a mum in southern Amsterdam?’). |

ANOUK: Rokin' MamaThe Hague’s very own Anouk is the most famous rock chick in the Netherlands. After breaking through with hit single Nobody’s wife in 1997, she went on to release seven more albums. On her latest CD entitled Who’s Your Momma, Anouk worked with American star producer Glen Ballard. An Anouk gig is best described as a roller-coaster ride, bursting at the seams with pure energy, power and raw rock alternated with soulful ballads. Anouk was born in 1975 in The Hague. Not many people know her last name, Teeuwe. But her first name is immediately associated with the long blond-haired rock diva that she is. She was discovered by Barry Hay, lead singer of The Hague rock band Golden Earring, when fronting a cover band that played at weddings, parties and small festivals. The hit single Nobody’s wife which was released in 1997, marked her big breakthrough. Seven albums and countless successful concerts followed.
