Scheveningen - Kurhausplein

For those who visit Scheveningen, the Kurhaus Square is a must see. Admission to the Kurhaus Hotel on the square is free. Climb the stairs and be impressed by the breathtaking Kurhaus foyer.
The restaurant and coffee lounge with their seaside views are worth a visit. Order a coffee here and imagine yourself back in the olden days. Once outside, you will find the modern Wine Bar on your left. Its delicious tapas and quality wine served by the glass are a must for connoisseurs. The neighbouring restaurant La Galleria regularly organises themed evenings. The Argentinean restaurant Santos, a little further down, and restaurant Rodizio on the opposite side of the road both belong to the same owner. These restaurants each have their own concept, but the meat served by both of them is of excellent quality, and their staff are exceptionally friendly.

If you are a fan of real Japanese food, try restaurant Sakura around the corner from the Kurhaus. This restaurant boasts high quality authentic Japanese cuisine. In short, the Kurhaus surroundings offer a varied range of excellent dining establishments! After dinner, we advise you to give it a shot on the opposite side of the Kurhaus, in the Holland Casino. You can visit during the day, although the ambiance is more relaxed in the evening, after a delicious meal. This is one of the Netherland’s largest casinos. Holland Casino also organises many themed evenings. Well-known artists perform here regularly.

You can’t miss the Big Bell on the corner of the Kurhaus Square. In this attractive café you can sit and relax, for instance at the cosy bar in the back, and enjoy live music from 8 PM. Near the Big Bell you will find Toff. Here you can also wind down in a relaxed ambiance. Situated in front of the Kurhaus is another restaurant by the name of Westewind. After a wintry walk, you can warm up by its cosy fireplace. Westewind is also the place to be for people-watching. For jazz enthusiasts, Westewind regularly organises jazz evenings. For the real partygoers there is an abundance of excellent places of entertainment on the boulevard in front of the Kurhaus. So, for drinks, fine food, a little gambling and some nightlife, head for the Kurhaus Square. Enjoy!

TOPKAPI Sense Restaurant

THE MEDITERRANEAN TREASURE CHAMBER - Located right below the Kurhaus, the Topkapi Sense restaurant is synonymous with an ‘incredible dining experience’. This restaurant’s luxurious decor and furnishings will have guests believing they’re in an Ottoman palace. And the unique cuisine only adds to the sense of being a character in one of Scheherazade’s tales. The Topkapi Sense Restaurant is a true treasure chamber in the bustling heart of Scheveningen”, says Lena. “Our kitchen is run by a Turkish and Iraqi chef, and our elaborate menu features dishes from countries as Turkey, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, Israel, Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco. We even found several mothers from these countries willing to advise our chefs on a daily basis and help them ensure the authenticity of our dishes.”

Michael and Lena de Ridder, hosts of the opkapi Sense Restaurant, met each other in the atering industry 7 years ago. They got married ust before the opening of Topkapi, now almost 3 years ago. Lena is of Palestinian, Syrian and ebanese origin. Michael is of mixed Indonesian and Dutch descent. Who could better represent the multicultural atmosphere of Topkapi than this international couple?

Apart from the attractive menu, a visit to Topkapi is an experience in itself. “We are open 7 days a week for both lunch and dinner. And because our kitchen has a Mediterranean feel to it, we are even open to late at night”, Michael explains. “In the weekends, we have live music and performances by a belly dancer. This is how we create a very special evening for our guests. The unique atmosphere of our restaurant really appeals to large multinationals for which we host business lunches, corporate dinners and party evenings. But you are just as welcome for a lovely cup of mint tea served with Turkish baklava or to enjoy the international atmosphere of the Kurhausplein on our sunny terrace in summer.
