Frederik Hendriklaan (affectionately nicknamed ‘Fred’ by locals) is situated on the outskirts of Scheveningen. The nearly 800-metrelong avenue is flanked on both sides by a wide selection of speciality food shops, including a large number of supermarkets and household supply shops, a bakery, a butcher, a greengrocer and a cheese shop.
The avenue also offers more than one hundred shops selling a wide range of fashion, as well as home furnishing stores, travel agencies, leisure shops, and so on. The flurry of traffic and shoppers gives this street its special charm, as well as ensuring a large variety of food service establishments such as cafes, speciality restaurants and delightful brasseries offering outdoor seating during the summer months.
