Chinese hospitality meets Western luxury - INTERVIEW CHINA HOTEL HOLLAND
The China Hotel Holland is located on the A13 motorway on the edge of a beautiful, lush park adjacent to the Ypenburgse Poort industrial area. The 10-billion-euro hotel, which blends Chinese hospitality with Western luxury, covers 6,000 square metres and features 74 rooms: twenty superior suites, 34 standard rooms and twenty supreme suites. In addition, the hotel has five banquet rooms, seven karaoke rooms and two restaurants. The suites are equipped with marble floors, a mini-bar, free wireless Internet, LCD screens and marble bathrooms with separate baths and toilets. One of the hotel’s highlights is its restaurant, which offers both Chinese and international dishes. Guests also have the option to dine in smaller private rooms, in traditional Chinese style.

Strong growth for Delft tech start-upsTechnology start-ups established as part of the YES!Delft initiative for new businesses performed extremely well in 2008, resulting in a tripling of the workforce, a 75% rise in sales, and a tenfold increase from the previous year in start-up investments by venture capital firms. The thirty-nine fl edgling companies attracted a total of more than EUR 5 million in venture capital, 80% of which came from foreign investors. In 2007, they managed to raise EUR 500,000. Total revenue from sales rose to more than EUR 9 million, representing an increase of nearly 4 million euros compared to 2007. Investment in young companies helps create the quality jobs the region needs.
YES!Delft, the business centre of Delft University of Technology, promotes the establishment of new businesses and supports entrepreneurs at every stage. It encourages students, professionals and scientists to start and develop their own businesses and assists and supports them in this process. YES!Delft offers tech start-ups practical support, strategic advice, education, a network of valuable contacts and a technical infrastructure for product and process development.

The ‘Night Watch’ and cufflinks INTERVIEW Royal Delft is the only remaining Delft ceramic factory from the seventeenth century. The Koninklijke Porceleyne Fles was established in 1653, and today each piece is still made by hand, just as it has been done for centuries.
